Nicholas Sperlyng sat for Wycombe in Parliament in 1402, and Tudor and Stuart records place Spurlinges in Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire, west Middlesex and Buckinghamshire, and East Anglia, including the serjeant-at-law and MP John Spurling (d. 1603).
