A Find a Grave cemetery search for the name "spurlin*" returns eight burial grounds with Spurlin in their names, as of September 2026.[1] They are in Arkansas, Tennessee, Indiana, Kentucky and North Carolina, and most are small: five have fewer than 30 memorials. A broader search for "spurlin" also returns cemeteries named Spurling or named for Spurlington, Kentucky; these are listed separately below.[2] Counts of memorials are those shown by Find a Grave in September 2026. Spurlin Cemetery, Garland County, Arkansas

The largest of the group is on Papas Trail near Hot Springs. Its 159 memorials are 90% photographed.[3] Its Spurlin graves centre on the family of James Frank Spurlin (1846–1918), whose marker names him as a private in Company E, 19th Arkansas Infantry, C.S.A.[19] Wikidata records the cemetery as item Q117620668, with GNIS ID 55138.[20] See Spurlins Ferry and Spurlin Cemetery (Garland County, Arkansas).

Spurlin Cemetery, Fentress County, Tennessee

Find a Grave's description places this cemetery in the northeast part of the Grimsley quadrangle, on the old Spurlin farm northeast of the Tinchtown and Old Barger roads, and says Daniel Spurlin established it in 1858.[5] It has 82 memorials. Only one of them, for Daniel Spurlin (1800–1865), carries the Spurlin surname. Its contributor notes that his grave itself has not been found.[6][21] The memorial lists his children as including Emily Jane Spurlin Auterson, Clark Spurling, Rev. Hicks Lafayette Spurlin and Lewis Spurlin.[21] Wikidata records the cemetery as Q117627363, with GNIS ID 1271172.[22] See Spurlins of Fentress County, Tennessee.

Spurlin Cemetery, Shelby County, Indiana

This Washington Township cemetery has 25 memorials, 92% of them photographed.[7] Eight carry the Spurlin surname. The earliest is Henderson Spurlin (1827–1847) and the latest Marlin Spurlin (died 1908).[23] They include Joshua Spurlin (1805–1876) and his wife, Esther Laymon Spurlin (1809–1883). Joshua's memorial links the couple to nine children, among them Ithamar Spurlin (1839–1915) and Joshua Franklin Spurlin (1841–1916), both Civil War veterans (see Spurlins of Shelby County, Indiana).[24] Wikidata has an item for the cemetery, Q117619638.[25]

Spurlin Cemetery, Christian County, Kentucky

Find a Grave has no coordinates for this cemetery. It quotes directions from Cemetery Records of Christian Co. KY: from Hopkinsville, north on Highway 107, left on Highway 189 past Lacy School, then left on Highway 1914, with the fenced cemetery on the right.[9] Of its 21 memorials, five carry the Spurlin surname.[9][10] Noel W. Spurlin (1827–1894) is described on his memorial as the son of John and Rebecca (Utley) Spurlin, the pioneer couple whose son was the Baptist preacher James Utley Spurlin.[26] See Spurlins of Christian County, Kentucky.

Alleghany County, North Carolina

Three of the eight are in Alleghany County, where Spurlins settled in the late 18th century (see Spurlins of Ashe and Alleghany Counties, North Carolina).

  • H B Spurlin Memorial Garden, Ennice. A photo caption places it across the road from Crab Creek Cemetery on Highway 18.[11] Its earliest burial is Horton Bowers Spurlin (1892–1977), whose initials match the name. His memorial names his parents as Eli Spurlin (1841–1929) and Charity Moxley Spurlin.[12][27]
  • Elias Spurlin Cemetery. Find a Grave locates it on Route 1114, with a gate leading to a hilltop. It has no GPS coordinates. Its nine memorials include Daniel Spurlin (1824–1880) and three other Spurlins with no recorded dates. None is for an Elias.[13][14]
  • Kisiah Spurlin Grave Site, on Route 1419 north of Sparta. A 1998 photograph caption describes the site as a cow pasture where Kisiah Spurlin's was the only visible headstone.[15] Her memorial gives her death as 10 July 1895, at age 67.[28] The site's nine memorials also include Daniel Moxley (1771–1849) and Nancy Spurlin Moxley (born 1777).[16]

Howell-Spurlin Cemetery, Cleveland County, North Carolina

This Shelby family cemetery has 16 memorials, including five Spurlins who died between 1850 and 1890.[17][18] See Howell-Spurlin Cemetery.
