Spurlin Industries, Inc. was a Georgia maker of acrylic whirlpool bathtubs, fiberglass tubs and showers, incorporated in 1984 and based in Palmetto. It had plants in Georgia and Florida and, according to directory data, Tennessee. The Georgia corporation was dissolved in 2017.

Spurlin Industries, Inc. was an American manufacturer of bathroom fixtures, mainly acrylic whirlpool bathtubs and fiberglass tubs and showers.[1][2] It was probably the most widely distributed product brand carrying the Spurlin name.

Corporate history

Georgia Secretary of State records list Spurlin Industries, Inc. as a domestic profit corporation formed on March 19, 1984, with its principal office in Palmetto and Richard Todd Spurlin as chief executive officer. Its last annual registration was for 2016, and the corporation was administratively dissolved on August 24, 2017.[3] In Florida, the company registered as a foreign corporation on August 22, 1990. Florida revoked that registration on September 22, 2017, for failure to file an annual report.[4] The business directory Buzzfile also gives 1984 as the year the company was founded.[5]

Locations

The company's website, as archived between 2002 and 2014, listed a corporate office in Atlanta and fiberglass plants in Palmetto, Georgia, and Panama City, Florida.[6] A dealer's copy of the company's Countess product page carries the company's own description, which also names a plant in Woodbury, Georgia.[7] Dun & Bradstreet lists Spurlin Industries on Main Street in Palmetto, in the plastics product manufacturing industry (plastic plumbing fixtures), with 100 to 999 employees.[8] Buzzfile places a Spurlin Industries facility on Industrial Road in Savannah, Tennessee. It estimates about 100 employees there and about 160 across all locations, and says the company exports.[5]

Products

The archived company website listed acrylic whirlpools, showers, tubs, tub-and-shower units, shower bases, sectional and remodeling units, multi-family units, ADA-compliant units for assisted living, shower doors and kitchen sinks.[2][6] Its whirlpool line is described under Spurlin whirlpool baths. In 1996 the company was assigned a patent, naming Richard T. Spurlin as inventor, for mounting a whirlpool pump on an adjustable platform under the tub.[9] Its trademarks are covered under Spurlin trademarks.

Later years

The company's products were sold through plumbing wholesalers such as Ferguson. In September 2026, however, Ferguson's online catalog showed no products under the Spurlin Industries brand filter.[1] By 2024 the company's former web domain showed only a placeholder page.[10]

Leadership

Dun & Bradstreet names Richard Todd Spurlin as the company's key principal, and Georgia corporate records list him as CEO.[8][3]

Woodbury, Georgia plant (EPA records)

Records in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Toxics Release Inventory confirm a Spurlin Industries Inc. plant at 212 Dromedary Street in Woodbury, Meriwether County, Georgia (TRI facility ID 30293SPRLN212DR). The EPA classifies it under NAICS 326191, plastics plumbing fixture manufacturing. For 2007, the facility reported styrene and dimethyl phthalate, with total on-site releases of 86,160 pounds.[11] Styrene is a standard raw material in fiberglass and acrylic bath-fixture production.
